One thing that I just can’t understand is why anyone would opt for a studio family photoshoot, when we have the Peak District right on our doorstep! Maybe if I was fortunate enough to have a studio, I would have a different outlook, but here we are 🙂 In my opinion, however, nothing compares to a Peak District family photoshoot!
Padley Gorge is nested in the heart of the Peak District, and is a haven for photographers and nature lovers alike! Enchanting woods, babbling streams, and picturesque rocks outcrops make an stunning backdrop to your family photoshoot. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Paul and his family for a photoshoot there. The stunning weather we had turned out to be a bit of a blessing, and a curse! It was VERY busy. However, one thing that keep me coming back to Padley Gorge, is just how easy it is to lose the crowds! From looking at the images, it’s as if we are the only people there (which was definitely NOT the case!).
It was such a fun shoot, and we managed to get some wonderfully spontaneous, candid photos. Fallen trees provided a plethora of natural props for the family to sit on. At Padley Gorge, there is no shortage of natural elements to incorporate into our photos!
One thing I think is absolutely vital in a family photoshoot, is to embrace spontaneity! My favourite, most genuine moments are the ones that aren’t scripted. Having your family in a natural, open place (like Padley Gorge!) encourages them to relax and have fun! This is the BEST way to get authentic photos of your children. Having your photoshoot where there’s so much to explore and discover not only makes it fun for the kids, but the adults too! Paul and his family often hiked in the Peak District, so this was the ideal location for them 🙂
So why not grab your camera, and your loved ones, and head on over to Padley gorge! Trust me, if you get there around golden hour, before or after the crowds, you wont regret it!!!
